Bernie Clubs and Organizations

Bernie has various clubs and organizations that work to serve the community and the people in it.     As you can see there is something for everybody here.

Bernie Tractor Club

The Bernie Tractor Club, led by James H. Tilmon, is comprised of several individuals who work together to hold tractor pulls at different times throughout the year.  These pulls attract groups not only from nearby towns, but from areas as far away as Arkansas.  Pullers compete in different categories for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies.

Twenty-two members currently make up the Bernie Lions Club.  Members pictured from a recent meeting include:  Norman Swafford, Jerry Buttry, Wayne Freed, Marcus Nordin, Kyle Dowdy, Ken Walters, Tom Burris, Rick Kennedy, Allen Ellenburg, Bill Garrett, and Phil Dawson.

The Lions Club is an international organization founded in 1917, and is comprised of over 44, 500 chapters all over the world.   With the motto "We Serve," Lions members take an active interest in the welfare of their community and participate in a wide variety of service projects that meet the needs of their community.  The local Bernie Chapter has several projects that they support.  Some of these projects include collecting eye glasses and assisting students to obtain eye glasses.  They are the servers at the school honor banquet, they sponsor a high school scholarship among other school projects, and are involved in the youth leagues, Mid-South sight and hearing services, and other community events.

The Lions Club has a variety of fundraisers throughout the year to support their projects.  These fundraisers include the Pancake Breakfast, Gabe Pointer Memorial Golf Tournament, Community Banquet,  the Fall Festival, and tractor pulls.

We are very proud of the contributions the Lions Club have made to our town.

The Lions Club meets at the Lions Den, 101 E Main Street monthly on the second Thursday of each month
